Do BRB’s need to climb Because I’m about to make a rack with tubs that are 4x2x6 in H would that be enough for an adult BRB or do they need climbing space? I have the feeling they do.

I have had my 2 yr old male for around 4 months now. He’s got plenty of climbing surfaces in his enclosure, but I have yet to see him climb. Could be his personality, or maybe I just don’t spend enough time staring at his cage. But he seems to be quite the bottom dweller. He’s my first, and only BRB.

My BRB never climbs...ever.... I have had him since august and have not seen him even touch the branches.... I even tried putting him on them and he went off right away......

The only time my BRBs climb is when I take them out to clean their tubs...and I put them on a "climbing tree" that I made. This climbing tree is kind of like a coat tree but with a whole-bunch of pegs sticking out of the center post. This keeps them occupied while I clean and gives them some good exercise in the process.

Otherwise...No, I’ve never seen my BRBs climb. But, unlike Ball Pythons, BRBs are very good climbers!

I hope this helps?!

Cool idea with the climbing tree. I’m gonna have to rig one up now! As for climbing, I’ve only had my BRB for about 3 weeks (she was a rescue), and I have yet to see her do any climbing. She much more prefers to burrow.

What I’m wondering though is if climbing is related to the amount of vertical space available to the snake. Most people keep them in aquariums or tubs from what I’ve seen, which limits the climbing space. Would they be more apt to climb if given 4-6 feet of vertical space?

I guess they go where ever the heat is. If the cage has incandescent lights 6ft up my guess is that the snake will climb to get there. As in most cases they are in tubs with UTH so they stay low. Thanks for all of the help!
