 Here she is...

I had her out for a bit today for cage cleaning. For the first time she was very aggressive. Struck at me several times and really freaked my g/f out lol....so here are the first good pics of her since she shed. If anyone notices anything out of the ordinary with her (other than being so thin), please let me know.

Wow!!! Congratilations, she’s Beautiful. I’ve been reading your other threads. What a difference in her already.

How did you handle her agression?

Edel

Just like any other non-venomous. When I go to handle her, I either remove the hide she is in or uncover her from underneath the moss, and gently rub my fingers on her sides (away from the head). At this point she will either ball up like a BP or go into the defensive "S" position and be trying to turn to face my hands. If she balls up I remove her by hand and just let her explore my hands and arms. No sudden movements, and keep her head away from my face. She hasn’t been aggressive when I’ve taken her out like this.
If she gets into striking position, I use the hook to remove her, and then transfer her from that to my hands. Sometimes she’s just in the mood, and strikes at every sudden movement or flash of light, but she seems to settle once she gets in my hands. I figure with some persistence and patience, regular handling will pay off and she will become more tolerable of handling.

They say its a sign of obesity when the scales are separated like that. She doesn’t look obese but the scaled are just so far apart. Can you take pics of her on the floor straight down and on an angle.

Maybe it’s just the camera flash...but she looks "dry".

What’s your humidity % ?

I’ll get some new pics up soon. The seperation between the scales is starting to go away now that she’s getting some meat back on her bones. She is FAR from obese. Weighed a measly 1200g on her initial vet visit.

Humidity gradient runs from 70-99% (I love sphagnum moss). She was still a little dried out when those pics were taken, but she continues to improve dramatically. Her eating is back to normal too. She ate a large rat in about 5 minutes yesterday, compared to the 6 hours it took her to eat a small rat when I first got her.

For those who havent caught his previous posts, this snake is a rescue. It was severely dehydrated and malnourished. The first pictures from when Demon first got her are enough to make you want to cry. He has worked very hard to try to get her on the road to recovery. Go on back and see the previous threads.

I just dont get how someone can adopt a pet- especially a tropical snake, then not give em what they need to stay healthy. Its truely baffling.

It is baffling...now I’m looking at taking in a pair of Jackson Chameleon’s that are dehydrated and malnourished. The person is keeping them in a bird cage!!! Anyway, I won’t get started...thanks FFM, I can’t take all the credit, you gave me some good advice.

So here’s a pic from yesterday’s bath. Does she look like she’s about to strike? Well, she did right after the camera snapped, and I nearly fell in the bath tub with her lol
