 I GOT HER....I GOT HER....OMG I’M SO EXCITED!!!!!

Hey Guys,

So she finally came. I waited and waited and she finally got here. lol Her eye is messed up.....could be a stuck shed maybe...idk. I will be taking her into the vet in a few days. Want to make sure that she is settled just a bit. Wanna make sure she doesn’t have an RI and maybe have them do x-rays to see if we should expect some babies soon.

She was given to me in a couple of pillow cases. I sat on my bed and opened them. She is quite stinky....I’ll have to give her a bath in a couple days. I want to get some food in her first. I got her a couple small rats so we’re gonna try those tonigh in a bit. Anyway, I petted her and she just curled into herself and hid her face. I finally picked her up with the pillow cases and put her in the enclosure. I know it needs some work, but had to work with what I had quickly.

She has some stuck shed throughout her body, but am sure we’ll be able to work on that. She is quite skinny.

OMG!!!!! lol

I just want to do right by her. She is so Beautiful!!!!

I am naming her Uma......Means Goddess of power, Parvati, in Hindu.

Ok, here’s the pics: Need advise, ideas....whatever, just throw it at me. lol

I know she needs a dry hide....working on that. For now I gave her a towel. God only knows why. ROFL




Got a UTH on the left....Red bulb on the right for it was only getting to the high 60s.

Wow... she looks REALLY dry. They do not need dry hides, you need to keep her humidity at 70-90% (Someone correct me if I’m wrong). Also, those lights are drying her out. Get an under tank heater, such as a heat mat or a piece of heat tape, on a dimmer or a thermostat is best. Also you will need a device to measure what her temperatures are in her cage. Temperature guns are best and they only cost $25. Your hot spot should be in mid 80s, with her cooler area being 75 or so (again, correct me if I’m wrong). I hope this helps. I don’t know what that white stuff on her face is, but I have a good guess it’s urates. Remember to keep her hydrated, spray her with a spray bottle everyday. I do in the mornings before I go to work, and sometimes when I get home in the evening (it’s really dry in Ohio!). Good luck!

Hey Sra,

Thanks.....Yea, I do have a temp gun. She is a rescue I got today and she has not had any hydration for the last nine months or so. I gave her a small bath to try and get some hydration in her. She ate two small rats and is now curled up in her moist hide.

Try a bath 50% pedialyte, 50% water if she will soak ( clear not flavored/coloured!) to help with balancing her electrolytes. and yes 70-90% Humidity from my notes, and you don’t want to go over 85 on the hot end. Low 80s is good for hot side. If you’re gonna use the lights, put the water under one of them on one side of the enclosure. Spraying is good when the humidity gets below 70%. A hide on the cool and another on the hot is good. Both humid. Its not wet/dry you need but rather, cool/hot so they can thermo-regulate.One with moss and the other with damp coco-substrate should work great. (doesn’t have to be that though. Ive had great luck with keeping up Humidity with it though!)

About the eye, the vet will have to check her out. It could be from not shedding properly from dehydration or from Rubbing on a screen...or some of each.
