 Update On The Rescue!!!!!

Last Thursday she ate a large rat. But still no poop. Was kind of worried that she might be impacted.

She went into the blue phase, which was really exciting.....cleared up, like they always do, and I thought for sure she would not shed. lol I read somewhere that sometimes, especially if they are dehydrated, that they will do that. So I was a bit worried.

She has become more active the last few days, and she wants nothing to do with the tub at first. Once she is in there, she’s fine, but it takes a while to get her in there. lol She wants to explore big time. lol

Last week getting ready to shed...In this pic she came out of the water and rested her head on my leg and sat like this for a long time:

Last night before last, right before bed I checked on her and this is what I found. I was so excited. Finally a shed. All night I worried, hoping she would shed completely. In the morning I checked and the shed skin was on that side of the tank combined with urates. Worry again rose inside me, thinking perhaps she is impacted. I cleaned the urates up and left for work.

The Vet Visit Yesterday......a followup check up.
I take the entire wet hide with her inside with me. I put the hide in a pillow case, and carry her out that way.
I got to the vet’s and proceeded to take her out of the hide. They weighed her......she gained 220 grams!!! WooHoo!!! lol
The vet came in at this point.....She looked at her and said, "OMG....OMG she is like a totally different snake. I am so amazed. I really didn’t think the eye was going to heal. But, yea, it’s going to." She said in a couple of sheds the eye should be back to normal. I am so thrilled!!! I was so so worried that she might lose her eye.
A bit blurry, but I think we can see the difference:

We probed.......It’s a Girl!!!! lol ***phew*** am glad I don’t have to look for a new name. She is 2 inches short of six feet. Vet said keep doing what you’re doing. Go to a bath every other day for a few weeks, and then to twice a week. Keep feeding her once a week if she will take it. I’m supposed to take her in for another check up in six months. Vet said she hasn’t pooped because she was so starved, that her body is taking in every little bit of nutrients from the rats.

The vet was so happy. And I am so happy. I was so so worried. I just want this little girl to heal.

I love this picture.....you can see the irridescence starting to come out.

And a pic of her nose. I don’t know if you guys remember how yucky the top of her nose looked.

I am so proud of her. She loves to hiss at me.....thinks she’s gonna scare me I guess. lol Once she’s out, she loves the human interaction.

Thanks guys.....for listening and for your support.

I’m so glad she’s going to be ok.

Edel

Great job! She looks better and better. Mine does the same thing....hisses and strikes until I get her out of the cage, and then she settles down and becomes a bit more friendly. I hope that eye continues to heal for you and her. Good luck and keep us updated!

Your hard work and diligence is paying off. She looks so very much better! Awesome job. You really did save a life there. My eyes literally teared up (yeah Im a sap) when I saw how bad off she was. Even worse off than Demon Driven’s rescue was.

You both deserve Kudos for taking these guys in and giving them a place to heal up and become healthy. Great job! And thank you for sharing your experiences. It helps the rest of us learn.

 Update On The Rescue!!!!!

Sadly, the current owner had his move delayed and wants to keep the snake longer. Grr. Im going to try to get ahold of him this weekend again. If he keeps delaying I may just say forget it. Its been a year and a half of delays.

Yikes! That’s too bad about the delays, but I hope you still get him. I just can’t understand why someone would want to continue to keep a snake that they know they can’t properly care for (if I remember right, allergies were keeping the current owner from using moss or keeping the humidity up, right?).

 Update On The Rescue!!!!!

Yeah. I know. I think he just gets lonely and has attached himself to this snake. I should totally call him up and tell him to just get a service animal he can bring with him, cause I don’t think they will consider a BRB his service animal...though truth be told, the emotional attachment he does have to that snake, it could be!

It would be easier if I went out to his place and talked to him directly, in the presence of the animal so I could tell him all the things he really needs to do, hold the snake and say " See this here...this is signs of dehydration. His weight is good. You have this great bowl, how bout moving it over ..."*slides bowl under heat source* "here..." Prove to him that I really have the snakes best interest in mind, Im not just greedy...cause well...he waited so long I already have two large boa constrictors. Ask the universe for a snake....and they come to find shelter with you as if chased by St. Patric himself, I tells ya!

I think many people don’t think of snakes as sensitive creatures...when they are one of the MOST sensitive animals. Their whole bodies are designed to sense danger, food, or mate. How they survive all the stresses we put on them is really amazing.

Hey guys, Thank you so much. I am really excited. We got POOP!!!! lol OMG it was huge. But am so glad she finally went.
As I was getting her in the tub for her nightly bath last night, I noticed how much her rainbowey colors are starting to show up. I will take some pictures the next couple days. She is so Beautiful.
The eye is looking so much better....it now looks as is she were in the blue phase. Hopefully a copule more sheds will take care of it.

Oh My....I’d be going nuts waiting that long. Why, if he knows he needs that hydration, is he still keeping him? ***sigh*** Couldn’t he just get a dog? lol

You guys are Awesome.....Thanks for the support.
