 Help?

Hello All, I havent posted in a looong while, but was hoping for some feedback.

My BRB was in shed, and while i had her out, she attempted to slither through an area she simply didnt fit, got slightly cut, and ripped off a piece of shed... a few days later, she had a complete shed, and looked completely fine, except for the injured area. it looked very dry... and painful. I contacted EBV (the distributor) and they recommended putting neosporin on the area, but said otherwise, she should be fine if it did not become red on inflamed. i was wondering if anyone has had experience with a similar situation??? and what was done? Id take her to a vet, but they pretty much suck out here. Thanks for any input.

 Help?

Keep the humidity up...Keep the cage spotlessly clean...Keep clean water in the enclosure...and watch for infection.

Other than that...give it time, feed her normally and wait for the next shed.

Yep, that and the Neosporin that was recommended will go along way in healing it up. Just like with people, a cut needs to be kept clean. It may take a couple of sheds for it to heal completely.

If it starts to look infected, go to the vet right away.

Hey,

Just remember to use the neosporin cream and not the ointment. The ointment has oils in it and the oils can/will seal the wound stopping it from healing completely. The wound needs to air and sometimes seep.....if not allowed to do this it can cause an infection.

Good luck and keep us posted.
