Congratulations!!!!! First I would suggest using a blue light bulb for the heat lamp. I heard somewhere that it dries the ambient air less than a regular heat bulb. I have not researched this, except that when I changed my bulb to the blue, the humidity stayed where it was supposed to. Humidity needs to be between 75% to 90% humidity. If you place some tropical plants in the tank it will help the humidity as well. Make sure you get some of that non toxic spray that will kill any bugs off the plants. Rinse really well, then place in the tank. Place the heat mat on the side of the tank and not on the bottom.....this too will help with the humidity. If the heat mat is right under neath, it will dry the substrate a lot faster. What are you using for substrate? The hot side should be between 80 to 85 degrees and the cool side in the 70s. You could probably use one of those human heating pads that have the low high and medium settings, therefore, setting it on high if it gets too cold in the enclosure. Hope this helps, and we hope to see pictures soon. Edel |

And in the hides, Damp Moss. Moss boxes rarely go amiss with BRBs. Make sure the bowl is big enough for it to soak under, and cover most of the top with a sheet of plexi or heck, even aluminum foil to keep in that Humidity. Put your bowl halfway under the heat lamp or half over the heating pad, and it will help with Humidity as well. Daily misting wont go amiss either. Use hot tap water in a spray bottle. By the time it hits the snake, it will have cooled, but wont crash your temps. Hope this helps too! |
