Just a few questions. That’s great that you are taking the plunge into boas. They are the best. Nothing comes close. I can say with almost 100% certainty that the boa in the pet store is a common Colombian BCI. They aren’t a "True Red tail boa". Pet shops are very misleading with that in efforts to make selling them easier. Red tail boa sounds "cooler" than common boa. It’s kinda crummy, but that’s how it is.
.
My best advice I could give would be to read as many different care sheets as you can find. Everyone will tell you something a little different but you’ll get a good sense of what you should do. Read read read. I’d also strongly recommend getting a cage setup and testing out temps/humidity before you purchase the animal. Get the husbandry perfect before placing the animal in there.
.
I’m not sure if you have one, but I also strongly recommend an Infrared Temp Gun. One of the best things you can get for taking care of your pet. Perhaps some digital thermometers too if you don’t already have them. .
.
www.riobravoreptiles.com is a very informative website to read. I’d suggest taking a look at it if you haven’t before.
.
One of my close friends just finished her website and it’s has probably the best care guide to it. IMO of course.
Link Check it out as well.
.
Good luck!

Just a few questions.
 Thanks for the info, ive bookmarked your friends site. Very informative place. Ugh ive taken a small plunge into boas, i also have 2 kenyan sand boas and to be honest im trying to sell them or somthing because they defodentaly arnt my fav reptile and are taking up space for my more favorite reptiles like my bloods and beardies etc lol. Ive wanted a rtb for a while. The rtb at the pet store i mentioned is selling the rtb for i think $120. would you consider this a resnable price? ( most classifieds ive looked on say yes its resnable but i want your opinion ) I dont think a rtb will be much harder to care for than my bloods so i dont think its a " bad " idea. Btw im very apreciative of everyones help. And cosnidering the rtb at the store is still a neonate im going to set up cage for it btu i have to cages that fit the need. a 20 gallon long and a 30 gallon tall. what would be better to use?
thanks =)

Just a few questions. That price sounds about right for a pet store. Either cage will be fine. It will grow out of the 20 and 30 pretty fast. Just keep that in mind. Provide plenty of hides for the little neonate. With a screen top, it’s best to cover as much as you can with Plexiglas to help hold the moisture and heat in. You can use cardboard or a towel but I found that Plexiglas works the best.
