 From Live to Frozen Mice

Hey guys i was just wandering if i could get some help on how to swith my snake from live to frozen because it is more convienient to feed and i dont want my snake to get eaten alive by some rat when he gets big enough. 2 of my snakes eat frozen but my 3rd and biggest eats live. I heard about fresh kill to prekill to frozen. For fresh should i kill it myself cuz my petstore doesnt sell it like that? also what is the most humane way to that if i must?

first off, why would you feed your snake food big enough to hurt him, also the snake would have no promblem killing it. geeze

go easy on the guy/gal. first i would get some tongs to hold the prey with to make it move around to look live. thats all i got hopefully some of the experts will give advice cause i dont have that problom.

An appropriately sized prey item can cause serious damage to a snake,F/T is the way to go.

Just make sure the prey item is nice and warm,I like to get them around 90-100.Don’t bother the snake for a while and try and feed the snake off tongs by wiggling the prey,Don’t over do it and freak the snake out.if the snake does not take it leave it in the cage overnight undisturbed.If it remains in the morning throw it out and try again next week.

Thx bro i will try that.... i think imma go prekill first then try frozen but it did get more convienient for the live i found a good store near me that sells cheap and has good selection unlike some places where it is hard to find a small/med rat
