 IBD concerns

ok,i am lookin at getting a RTB in the enxt couple weeks,and already keep pythons,and i am hearing its not good to keep boas in the same vicinity as pythons because of ibd,is there a way to do it safely?

That is bunk.

What it sounds like you have been told is that either all boas have IBD (hear that alot from the BP guys) or that all BPs have IBD (hear that from the boa guys). It is a common begginers misunderstanding.

IBD is rare but devistating. Peter Kahl has a good amount of info on his site. pkreptiles.com

and here is a very public thread about IBD that wiped out a well respected keepers colony from just one animal from a dead beat seller. I link this thread because it is chock full of information and is well documented by BW Smith.

I couldn’t agree with Florida any more, it’s bunk. IBD is very serious, but as long as you practice a good quarantine procedure, you’ll have no worries.

At least 3-6 months if you are suspicious of IBD. There’s really no set time length for quarantining. The longer, the better.
