A couple questions, about common boas!

#1. Is carefresh a good substrate to use? I haven’t heard anything about it for rtbs.
#2. Do i need 2 hides for a younger rtb or an adult?
#3. Should the waterdish be in the middle of the enclosure and how big should it be depending on the size of the rtb ???

I have been doing a lot of research and I couldn’t really find the answers to these questions! Any help would be awesome!

A couple questions, about common boas!

Colombian BCI are common boas.
Care fresh is harmless, but unnessasarily expensive, aspen or cypruss are cheaper , possibly better alternatives.

Water on cool side.

I use one hide, but i use plastic enclosures which are opaque except for the plexi door, so they are basically in a big hide already.
Technically you want a water bowl big enough for the snake to soak in they want, however this is not always practical or a good idea. Water bowls should be kinda heavy and hard to tip, I like glazed pottery dishes as, it is less porus and a less suitable place for bacteria and algeas to grow. Persoanally not a big fan of the exoterra type fake rock plastic bowls.

.
1) Like Florida said, it’s harmless but a little spendy. Personally, I prefer Aspen shavings, but that’s just me.

2) That really depends on the setup. Smaller boas in larger caging need multiple hides to help them feel more secure. As they grow, they require less. I provide 3 or four for neonates. My adult boas don’t have hides. But I cover part of the cage with a towel to give them a "dark spot".

3) As far as the dish goes, that really depends on the setup. If you are having humidity troubles, the closer you place the dish to the hear source, the more the water will evaporate and leave the air more moist. But like I said, depends on the setup. If the cage maintains good humidity levels, then a small water dish on the cooler end is fine.
.
.
I prefer to make my cages because that is what I do for a living. But Animal Plastics and Boaphile make great cages that hold humidity and heat very well.

A couple questions, about common boas!

I just keep my boas in sterilite tubs, and 11’ flexwatt. with a good sized bowl the end of the bowl is near the flexwatt to create moisture with newspaper as a substrate it holds the heat very well and is readly available and easy to change. I don’t use hides bc there are in a homemade rack system and aren’t exposed in anyway.i keep my females up to 4 ft in these tubs and most males can be happy in these tubs for awhile.
And when u have alot of snakes this is a really easy and cost efficient way to keeping happy boas:) I find that in these tubs they are less likely to come off there food or have any sheding problems like can happen in tanks! you can find a downloadable ultimate care guide http://www.redtailboas.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31312 and it was written by the top rtb breeders that are out there right now and it will answer all of ur questions in detail!! good luck and welcome to the boa world:)
