Hey I am not sure where that post went either so here is a pic of the setup my husband built for our 8 ft RTB.

It is 6ft high, 6 ft long, and 3 ft wide.

i know mine’s a little rough compared to other enclosures, but i was after size in every dimension... the measurements are 6 feet long by three feet wide by three feet tall, and my snake uses every inch of it throughout the day. since this picture was taken, i’ve upgraded to radiant heat emitters and i’ve tucked the lighting away that the snake can’t hang on it and break it like he’s done before. sorry the picture’s vertical, i’m computer illiterate.

If you think yours is rough check out ours. It is in no way pretty but it is very funtional and was fairly cheap. We do have some probelms with the screen top and all but it was our first attempt and we learned for the next one. We normally keep it covered with a blanket to keep in the heat in winter and I regually check the humidity and mist accordingly. It is four feet long, two feet wide and two feet tall. Those are kitty litter pans and a smooth ceramic baking dish(both very inexpensive, you can also use a rubbermade tub for a water dish.). Not all of us have the money to buy those fancy-smancy pre-made cages. ;)

those are all really nice enclosures, i must say... i kind of cheated on the supplies for my enclosure by stealing it from the shop i work at. the plywood and the 2x4’s, which make up the majority of the structure were all free, which saved me over 100$, and i bought the peg-board which i used on the back for like, 15 bucks at home depot, and the plexiglass (which i’m upgrading in a month to high-impact,) only cost me fourty bucks, then i lined all the plywood walls with masonite, which cost less than the peg-board. i’m currently designing an enclosure much like this one with less height but more base-width for my burmese python, because he’s quickly outgrowing the fiberglass enclosure he’s currently in. with a little time, effort, and true outlook on the snake’s best interest, anybody can make a good enclosure that will last the life of the snake.

Our enclosure, made from an old display case. Our girl "Styx" really loves to climb! We’re going to have to make her a bigger one soon, though...

This is Inga’s cage - I got it off craigslist for $125.00. Good deal huh? It was originally for an iguana. She loves it - altho she doesn’t like to climb since she has gotten big and heavy she does enjoy her shelves where she can observe the world and she likes the cool side for some reason. Her top shelf is close to the CHE and she likes to bask up there and then move down to the middle shelf to relax. Her eating is really good in this cage and she has had perfect sheds there too. I put pond liner in the bottom and her substrate over that. THe cage is about 8 feet tall with the cabinets underneath, over 6 feet wide and over 3 feet deep. It’s perfect for her. I went thru alot trying to get a cage built for her and got ripped off so getting this cage so cheap made me feel better.

Why do you have a flexwat aswell are not radiant heat panels enough. Ppl always told me if you have a radiant heat panel its so great that’ll be all you need and a thermostat. Is it not hot enough so you need a flexwat aswell. I hope thats not the case haha flexwat seems annoying to install.

im sooo sory for saying this, but thats pathetic. sory, but i would die knowing im keeping my snakes in tubs and such puney containers. my youngest boa has a cage that is nearly 2m long and 1m high and wide.
i take my boas into an outdoor cage that is 5x5 every day, and let them sleep in it in summer.
but if you think its ryt to keep large boas in mineute cages fine.

sorry for being harsh but that put me off

And "the rey", I wouldn’t be criticizing members of this site who’ve been keeping reptiles, probably before you and I were born. I mean you’ve only been a member for 4 days.

Is that stuff cold cuz tile seems too cold for a snake? just let me know because If I decide to build a cage I dont no what to use for the bottom to protect the wood from moisture
