Honestly he will be fine until the vet appointment but if you want to try one more time then here ya go:

Get a Rubbermaid container large enough for the snake to fit into comfortable(he doesn’t need to be all stretched out but not totally coiled up either) put luke warm water in it until it is about half way up the snakes sides. Place the snake in the container and put the lid on(you may need to secure it so he doesn’t get out.) Take the snake and the container and place it on the warm side of the cage. Leave him alone for about an hour. After that take him out and let him climb through your hands paying special attention to the stuck shed. It should roll right off. If it doesn’t DO NOT try to remove it with q-tips or tweezers as this can severely harm the snake. If it doesn’t come off the first time leave it be until the vet appointment.

As for the mineral oil I don’t know. I hope that helped at least a little.

Actually you can try to manually remove eye caps.I have done it with tweezers,You just have to make sure the snake is secure so he Doesn’t jam his eye in to them, and not force it too much either.try gently,if it Doesn’t come off Don’t force it.

I only made that suggestion because someone who doesn’t know that they are doing can do more harm then good.

Please dont use tweezers if you have never done it i know it sounds easy but anything can happen and you could really hurt the snake.
Another good idea is to put him in a pillow case with a cloth you stuck under boiling water and rang out until its damp and not to hot you want it to be warm leave him in there about 20 mins and he should have rubbed it off on the cloth or pillow case. GOOD LUCK

 Important question

just an update! i just wanted to thank u all and let u know that basher is aok. my friend and i met up at the vets and he got it off. the dr said that it had to be around 3/4 sheds worth of eye cap. and guess what he was sooo mellow even after the vet messsin w/ him. basher is such a good boy and i don’t even do snakes(i’m afraid of ’em). he even let all 4 of my kids touch him at the same time. wow i was impressed! he was sooo pretty and sooo sweet. IF i were ever 2 get a snake i would want that one only. i’m still a bit sweemish about the head still but i’m working on it though. i held bashers body and tail while my friend held his head. i could feel all of his long muscles and his little ribs i have 2 say it was cool! and did i tell u that basher licked me. basher liked me bunches every time i pet him he had to check me out. it was funny. more time w/ basher and i might b able to conquer my fear of snakes. my 9 year old daughter is head over heels in luvvvv w/ basher!

That is great. I am glad things worked out for you. When we got our boy we had to take him to a breeder to remove his eyecaps. He had 7 sheds worth on one eye and 5 on the other(I was very upset at the previous owner). The guy said he only hissed once during the whole removal time. Boa’s are generally tame snakes, I have found. We have had ours since he was 7 months old(he just turned 3 years old last month) and he has only struck once. That was because the cat jumped in on top of him. Other then that not a hiss or bite! I was uneasy when we first got ours and now I love the guy! I hope things go good with over coming your fear! Sounds like you are well on your way.
