Waiting at least 36 hours to handle

i have read in many books and on some internet sites that you should wait at least 36 hours to handle a snake after it ate or it may regurgitate its meal or if the meal is very large it could break the ribs of the snake. is it necessary to wait 36 hours or is all of this a lie?
thanks

36 hours isn’t enough... 48 is MINIMUM and even more than that after a larger-than-normal meal!

Not sure about the breaking ribs part though... but yes, regurge is a very real thing that may occur when handling snakes that havent digested enough. As my friend puts it, eat a large meal than have someone punch you in the stomache... that is most likely what your snake feels after being picked up after eating!

Yeah, 2 days at least... Key words "AT LEAST".

When you eat, would you like someone to press on your stomach? Do you want to do anything that exerts yourself? No.

A snake must rest to digest its food and any disturbance can cause stress to the animal. Sometimes they regurgitate the food, sometimes they bite you. Different snakes have different ways for letting you know they need to be left alone. In the worst case, your snake could die. Its happened to someone I know, so don’t jack with your pet after its eaten.

I give mine 3 days before reaching into the enclosure to; not distress the animal too much, too not get bitten from the feeding response normal while digesting food. I don’t actually touch them or handle them for 4.
