New snake=no more hamster Well I don’t think I will have to worry about my new RTB eating anytime. He got out of his quarantine cage and long story short I found him in my hamster cage. Problem is the hamster was gone. little bitty pet store RTB and a dwarf hamster. He is about 18 inches so at that size he needs a fuzzy, well the hamster is about the size of a full grown mouse. The little guy was to fat to get out of the cage so he just sat there in a ball until i put him back in his cage, this time with a brick on the lid to make sure he wont get out anymore. It was funny in a way but also shocking that he could take on suck a large animal without a scratch on him. Ill post pics soon of little Rain. He is the future mate of my female Virginia. This is her

New snake=no more hamster I like the little guy.
Ive only had bad experiences with pet hamsters. Mice I adore. Rats are cool creatures.. but hampsters can be the meanest! (Im biased because as a kid my best friend had a hamster that would always bite me, even though I was very gentle with it and loved all animals. Same thing with me and ones the school I worked at had when I was in college. Mabey I just taste good to em)
Sorry about your pet...but yeah, that is really funny actually. Hope he digests well!

New snake=no more hamster good news on the hamster. He passed just fine and Rain is showing a growing appetite. Never know he might be ready to breed next year. We shall see. Ill be home Friday and ill get some pics up of rain and some new ones of Virginia. I laughed too when i saw the lump in his gut, as did my mom and everyone else that came over that night.

New snake=no more hamster My advice would be to wait until he is 3 years old. If the female is Waaay bigger than he is, you risk him getting injured. Its best if the male is smaller yes, but not THAT much smaller.
Good that he has a healthy appetite. Mine are staring at me going " Food? FOod? Im hungry...wheres the food?" as I type. *wanders off to thaw out some XL rats*

New snake=no more hamster lol I’m not trying to offend ANYONE here... but I just find it very ironic how people who LOVE reptiles that LOVE rodents keep said rodents as pets... I personally don’t understand it... I can’t go to a pet sore and see mice and hamsters and the likes... (rabbits... ferrets... gerbils...) as pets... some of the animals (to me) are just really expensive snake food.... again... this is a personal opinion... =)

New snake=no more hamster If I didn’t have two kitties that would do anything in their little kitty powers to eat any rodent pets, I’d have a rat or two. I had two ferrets that I rescued (they’ve since been adopted) and they were big enough to give the cats a run for their money during their out-of-cage play time (it was hilarious, actually.) I’ve never been a hamster fan, but have always loved pet rats and even gerbils are really cute. I think african soft furs are adorable, but don’t know how they are as pets.
Sorry to hear about your hamster getting eaten, but glad the snake is ok!

New snake=no more hamster No worries about the hamster. All of my rodents are given to me from people who no longer want them. I get them and take care ofthem until I find them homes. A few of my reptiles have escaped only to find them and eat them. Reptiles 5 Rodents 0 lol
