 Quick feeding question

I have had my RTB since 2005. Now I know that as they get older they slow down on feeding. Sonny went from eating 1 lg-xlg rat every 5-10 days. He now only eats every 3-6 weeks. Is that normal? About that only thing that has changed in his life is instead of using the red bark, I now use the white wood shavings. If at least can you tell me how often your boa was eating at 4 yrs old and 6.5-7 feet long. Thanks

 Quick feeding question

First off, nice cage.

I have a redtail that is about 6 1/2 years old and she is only 6.5-7 feet long. She went from eating every week to eating every other. Last year she got into not eating for 3 weeks at a time and then back to 2. She was weird. Now she is back to almost every other week. I also have a 1 1/2 year old that is 3 feet long. She went from eating once a week to twice a week. She started getting jumpy when I would walk by the cage mid week so I figured I would try feeding her again and she ate. She has been eating twice a week for about 2 months now. Check your temps and humidity. If they are spot on and you have day/night for your snake you should be fine. Hope that helps.

Again nice cage. I need to build one like that.

 Quick feeding question

Your 1.5 year old is about to go into her major growth spurt. Watch her that she does not become overweight. When mine started doing that I found they grew so fast that they went from eating Extra Large mice to Extra Large rats over a 4 month period of time. It was pretty amazing actually. Every month I ended up getting the next size larger prey item. They are on Extra large rats now.

Once they finish growing, Often they do slow down and eat only once every two weeks. When the season changes to Autumn, often they will only feed once a month if given a large meal.

 Quick feeding question

My male is 3 years old, and when he started eating less last Autumn, I realized he had other things on his mind. I ended up pairing him with a friend’s female, and he actually went 3 or 4 months without eating. after the breeding season, he started eating every two weeks like clockwork again.
