Some pics of my redtail collection

I have three redtails, I love them and am very proud of them........

This one is ginger, the smaller of my female, she is about 4’2’’, I got her for free. She was brought into to the pet store my aunt works at. The owners didn’t want her anymore because she is ery energetic, she moves ALOT when your hold her, they had kids and were worried that this could be a problem, so I recieved her.

This is boo, the larger of my two females, she is 7’ 11’’, I got her free as well. A family member had her for 3 years and I got a little mad because they were not feeding her, She hadn’t eaten in a year, I was going out and buying large rats every week to feed an animal that wasn’t mine because I hate to see an animal like that, after I started doing that, they just gave her to me, said that they didn’t want her anymore and to just take her. She is one of the most mello tempered female redtails I have ever seen, I can take her around kids and let kids hold her.

Last but not least is my one and only male romeo, who I just recently found out was a male when I probed him. He is the only one I bought, The breeder said he was a female, I’ve had him for almost two years now and he hasn’t grown much and he eats every week, He is 3’ 2’’, a female his age should be around gingers size, so I decided to re-sex him. Turns out my girl is a boy, a very pretty boy though. Very mello. He’s my favorite out of all of them.

DOn’t be shy tell me what you think.

As far as I’ve seen, my females have always been a little more jumpy and energetic then my males, but that may just be me.

Is it normal for a male to only be around 3’ feet after two years? If so, then that is awesome. I was worried he would grow out of his tank by next spring and I was rushing around to design my cage. If that is the case, then I have a little more time.

Well at least they are all in good hands now.

Each boa grows at a different rate. Genetics plays a part in growth. Feeding frequency a feeder rodent size also play a part.

My male is actually more enclosure agressive than my female.
It all depends on the individual with boas.

Well you see, Ginger actually turns around and bites me when I pick her up out of her cage not matter how well she is fed. I think it was lack of handling from her previous owners. Because she does NOT like to be handled, but I still keep trying, hoping it’ll change before she gets bigger because I really don’t like the idea of having a snake contained to is cage for the rest of it’s life.

My bigger female boo loves to be taken out in the summer, loves going out in the sun and getting to roam in the grass. My male is to small to go roaming in the grass but he likes being outside.

My feeding schedule is:

Boo:
2 large rats, once a week

Ginger:
1 small rat, once a week

Romeo: 1 small rat, once a week

Romeo just started rats and I’m hoping that’ll give him some size. Ginger is growing fast enough
