 Removing eye caps??

is there a safe way to remove the eye caps from retained shed?? The only shed left is top of the head with eye caps and about 10in down the neck. The rest came of as a result of a bath last night. I heard lightly rubbing with a wet q-tip works, but want to know for sure. Thanks,
Will

I should also mention the warm side is at 90F, the cool side is at 81F, the ambient air is between 76-79F. The humidity fluctuates from 60-63% with out misting. If my humidity stays within the correct range with out misting, is it still necessary to mist?? Thanks,
Will

Absolutely no need to mist if the humidity is correct. And yours looks spot on. I bet he is already looking and feeling a whole lot better.

For the Eyecaps: You can use a Q tip with a little mineral oil (unscented baby oil basicly)- dont rub much. With continued baths the eyecaps may come off on their own, or at the next shed. Id consult the vet though on this to be sure.

very cool. I left a message with the vet and he should be calling me in an hour or so. She is looking much better. Still not moving much in her cage, but is still very strong and did move around when she was on the floor. I may try the q-tip, or just wait till the vet trip. thanks,
Will

Or wait til the vet calls and ask them for their advice.

Reason Id wait on feeding, you dont want to handle the snake alot and stress it out more at the Vet and risk a regurgitation. Wait a couple days after the trip, then try the meal if it seems hungry. Vet will probably say the same thing. Give her time to adjust. The baths, as you saw, combined with the heat you are giving it, are probably helping ALOT already to make it so much more comfortable.
