Few questions. I would say that is a definate " I am going to bite you" indication there.
They do not always hiss.
Usually, they will pull back their neck into an S like pattern, to give themselves room to strike or flee. They will pull back away from you and face their face at you. These are all defensive postures.
You can use a rounded stick or snake hook and gently rub your snakes body with it. If you absolutely need to take the snake out then, you can put a hand towel over its head, then gently stroke the body and pick it up, supporting its body well. (Leather gloves might not go amiss)
It will most likely take time for you and your snake to build trust with one another. Remember, in the wild, snakes are prey items as well as preaditors. It has to get used to your smell and being handled. There are a few who never get comfortable with being held, but in my experience, with regular (twice a week or so) handling, calm down and actually enjoy exploring, supervised.

Few questions. Sounds like an RI. You should probably take him to the vet and get him checked out.

Few questions. Do you have him in a screen top or a wooden cage? What I do to get my temps up for an RI in my screen tops is leave the lamp on 24/7 cover 75% of the top with a towel doubled over, turn my heating pad on and let it get real toasty in there, never over 90 degrees, but keep it sprayed down with water and keep water in the bowl at all times. Your snake should be over it in about 2 weeks tops.

Few questions. 80 is on the low side of their temp range. You definitely want a hot side in the high 80s. I don’t know. I’ve never, thankfully, had to deal with an RI. What are you using for heat?

Few questions. A 75 watt at 16 inches above the basking area should put your basking temp around where it needs to be. I really don’t like the jewlry cases, the glass is so much thinner then your average tank. I’d be scared my snake would break the glass striking at their prey.

Few questions. You must not know how powerful a boa’s strike can be. One really good hit and it’s done, boo did it to her 175 gallon tank, thats why she has a woodend enclosure now.

Few questions. You should always use tongs. Snakes, unless in shed, have good eyesight. and an amazing sense of smell...but they are also movement sensitive when hungry...especially if food is in the air. They taste what they smell, and that forked tounge even can detect what side it is coming from. Its that sensitive.
My male struck at me several times in his tank in the past- not while feeding, but while he was in the tank. I moved him to a bigger one in a less walked by area of the room, and he is much calmer and happier. The female rarely gets aggressive, he is very aggressive/defensive by nature. She wouldn’t eat when I fed her out of tank. She lived in a rack system before I got her. Used to need her privacy to eat. Now shes a champion feeder. He always has been a very good eater.
I feed both of them in the tank. Your hand picks em up after feeding too...and just before when they are really hungry- so how does that help em not recognize your hand as food- when I thought about it, the practice does not make sense, unless there is a substrate issue, but yeesh, get a new substrate or put down a piece of cardboard for the meal, feed on top of a washable hide...whatever. Then there’s the whole handling just after they eat regurg issue...

Few questions. I feed boo in her cage because A. she is to big to tranfer back and forth before and after feeding and B. she becomes very agressive once she smells that rat, she knows what time it. She sits up on her branch and waits for it, I slitly open the cage and stick the tongs and rat through and WHAM. bye bye rat. I agree that you should always use tongs, by using your hand you are just asking for an accident to happen, even with live. In boo’s old room she had half a room, she was always posted up on her stand. All you had to do was throw the rat it an and she would catch it in mid air. She loves to hang off her branches and eat so substrate has never been an issue for me with her. I guess she is more of a wild feeder.

I really want to start him on prekilled/f/t but i got him from the owner who had him most of his life..he said he has tried f/t and stund he said the snake will only eat if you leave a live rat in his tank and leave the room..I really would hate to leave a live rat in his tanke and leave the room just in case he is biting or attackd...

Few questions. You need to give him a week with no touching no bothering no messing around in his cage. Leave him alone to adjust really good, then give him a good soak and then try feeding.
