 New Addition

I went into an expo looking for a nice Guyanan with little success, but I did find this girl for a great price.
She was sold to me as het for albino from a good breeder, but she looks pretty clean for a normal. She also lacks black pigment except for her tail. Hypo? It looked like her litter mates were sunglows and albinos. It’s a little too late to call the breeder tonight, so I’m asking here incase anyone would have any ideas. Anyway, let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

Hypo and Albino, as its clutchmates were sunglows and albinos is what I was thinking...

Am I totally wrong? I could be. *Nods*
You and Amie know genetics far better than I.

Lol I didn’t want to assume.

Hypomelanism is dominant, it cannot be an inactive gene sitting reclusive in a boa. It either is a hypo or it is not.

If it had Sunglow siblings, it just means one parent was a Hypo. Het. Albino or a Sunglow (Visual for Hypo and Albino). Typically, if one parent is hypo about half the litter will be hypo as well.

So, in short, a normal boa het for Albino is just that. A normal boa het for Albino.

Thank you very much for the education! I had previously thought Hypomelanism was recessive. This is where I was confused.
Thanks!

And this is why I have not bred my Hets for albino this season. They can wait while I get a better education. Or...just not ever be bred.
