Some questions about my Redtail.. Pierre!
Checking out some of the other pictures of rtb’s on this site i havent seen to many that look like pierre. The Person I got him from said his parents were both Hypo pastel, making him a super hypo pastel.. So I’m not sure if that’s why. After reading a few posts I counted his saddles and he has about 16, being further apart then I’ve seen some others on here. He also said he was about a year old, is 3 1/2 -4ft normal for a year old rtb? I fed him this last saturday night though he took his time. Constricting the f/t adult mouse for about 5 minutes, then he left it alone for a few minutes before deciding to eat. Seems like he might have been stressed.. Was wondering what other people had feed there Rtb of about the same size? Since the adult mouse seemed a bit small compared to Pierre. Think I figured out how to post pictures..

He’s too big to be eating mice. Mice have no nutritional value for boas. They need to be on rats. As far as the size of prey, the thickest part of their body should have a minor lump in it after he eats it. Size to age ratios do not work for boas because they grow based on how often you feed them and what you feed them. As long as the body condition is fine the animal should be healthy. |
