 HEAT?

I have a 100 watt bulb and in the basking light the temp is over 100 degrees, in the other side of the tank it is about 80. Is this okay? Or should I try and get a small wattage light with a colder basking light. What do you guys reccomend?

your cool side is okay at 80 degrees. As for the basking side it depends who you ask, the range should be between 90-95 degrees, i keep my basking side around 91-93. you could continue to use the same light as long as you move it far enough away from the tank that the temp lowers, because over 100 is definitely too hot.

 HEAT?

for some reason he likes to sit in it as well, i dont think my thermometer is messed up, but i know it is red and it might be sucking in extra heat. I might hvae to get a smaller bulb.

 HEAT?

I HAVE A FRIEND WHO HAD AN RTB THAT ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE HEAT AND SHE KEPT THE TEMPS BETWEEN 95-100 AND HE WAS ALWAYS ACTIVE,GOOD APPETITE,HEALTHY. I GUESS IT DEPENDS ON THE INDIVIDUAL , MAYBE YOURS IS A HEAT LOVER. JUST KEEP THE TEMP IN A FAIRLY ACCEPTABLE RANGE BECAUSE THEY DON’T KNOW ANY BETTER . JUST CURIOUS WHAT SIZE IS THE ENCLOSURE, AND HOW OLD IS THE SNAKE.

 HEAT?

pruch said it right, it depends on who you ask. i for one believe it to be ok to have higher basking temps bc in practice it has never been a problem for me and my suri loves the hot temps. but with having a higher basking temp i also have a nice cool side of 80 for him to go to when he needs. the temp gradient in my enclosure is set up pretty well bc he uses nearly every part of it. your snake will do the same with the higher heat, he’ll go to it when he needs or even wants more than 90-95 and then retreat to the cool side. if you never see him use it then its simple, turn it down a little a bit :) and if your snake just stays in one place, its likely that your temps arent right.

 HEAT?

as long as your snake can get away from the heat you are fine.
