How big is your cage? What do you use as hides in there, and isn’t the wood really hard to clean?

the cage is 4ft long 30inches wide 16inches tall. the bigger boa is going to be moved into a 6ft cage in about a month. i use litter boxes with a hole cut in them for the hides they are really easy to clean. and work great. the wood is sealed. it’s not hard to clean at all. i’m going to be putting a rock texture shower tile board around the sides and back soon.

What type of plywood is that? I looked around the most the stores here only have pine and I didnt know if it would be safe to use if a sealed and paint it.

probably beacuse sometimes it will not let you post. so you click it again, and it will repost the same thing, i’m supprised you ahven’t seen someone post like 5 of the same entries before. Thats why it says DO NOT CLICK if you’ve already clicked, it will just post another copy.

sometimes i’ve noticed the forum freezes and it doesn’t show new messages but if you click the refresh button it will make the posts show up. so if some people don’’t see their message they post it again.

I dont think a red tail would be good for you at the moment.They get pretty big.I would start with something like a corn snake or a ball python.

personally... I think it depends on the kid... my 12 year old is awesome at husbandry.. he can tell you what the temps need to be in the tank... he knows how to read a snake’s body language... and knows when our snakes don’t mind being held or when they wanna be left alone. This goes for the Balls and The Boas... but once again, I’ll state... Ball Pythons are NOT beginner snakes... the husbandry is TOO complex.They are not forgiving when they are wrong...
First of all Hun, welcome to the world of snakes... everyone here LOVES them. I am so glad that you’re starting out so young wanting to care for an animal. I didn’t like snakes til I was OLD. I have Ball Pythons and Red Tail Boas. You should know that these snakes live a LONG time if they are taken care of... and this will mean that you..as its owner are responsible for it... through grade school... high school and continue until you are an adult...even when you have something else to do..it’ll be your responsibility to make sure it is taken care of... as I’m sure your Mom and Dad have already told you. What made you want a BIG snake as your first? What type of container would you keep it in? Are your parents willing to help?

is this a common boa i need to know asap i have one just like it and i did my reasearch after i bought him but couldnt decide wether he was a common boa or a morph as he has really weird scale pattern on under belly i am new to boas i love pythons lol
