How often should your cage be cleaned out?

thanks for the reply. I was just wondering because people keep telling me different things, some say every 2 to 3 months or every month. I just got my first snake 2 weeks ago, it’s a dumeril boa and i wanted to make sure im doing every thing right for him.

Yeah my problem was space for him, but the dumeril boa only get 5-6ft male and 6-7ft female. They have size to them but dont get to big to have. There are very docile snakes. There perfect, from day one he didnt mind being held and havent tried to bite me. Heres a pic of him. His about 20 to 24in and i dont know how much he wieghs but it aint much right now.

Clean your snake’s enclosure whenever it needs it.. no certain schedule. If it poops.. or pees... clean it... if it spills water.. clean it. If the substrate gets moist from humidity... clean it... I guess what I am trying to get across is... do it when it needs it.

Oh, he’s perty :o)

I’ve heard of Dumerals, just never really looked for pics...
Are these normal colors, or is it a morph?

BTW - I do a Complete clean, once a month... disinfect Everything,
and put New substrate down.

What type of substrate are you using?
I use Aspen... very common ...it’s cheap, easy to see "dirty spots", and looks nice.

There normal colors, havent heard or seen any morph yet. right now im using coconut fiber. I heard that aspen is good but i also heard that it doesnt hold humidity.

Where’d you get him, where would be a good place to look for one?

I second that. If there’s any rookys here, Do it when you need to theres no "Special" time to do it even if you gotta get off your @ss to do it. That’s why you own it anyways.

Oooops, forgot to say that too... Yes - spot clean As Needed...
didn’t mean to sound like an idjit :o)

from another similar post...

Quote:

Cleaning:

Spot Cleaning...

Snake pees or poops...
* Scoop out "dirtied area"
Wipe bottom of enclosure in that area
(I do, don’t know who else does it this way)
Spread remianing substrate into cleaned area

Monthly Cleaning...

* Remove Everything
Clean Enclosure and Decor
Place new substrate down
Replace Everything

I was refering to whether or not one needs to do a complete clean or not...

Some do not do monthly complete cleaning.

I agree dumeril boas are awasome. My female is 6 1/2 feet and my male is 4 feet. the female was worth 200$ and the male was 175$. I have had them for a few months very docile snake very cool and they don’t get to big. I rly suggest buying 1.
