I got my new baby, new to this forum

Hi, I’m new to this forum. I’ve belonged to the Ball Python one for two weeks, but figured I’d check out this one too. I have a BP, Cleo, 3 1/2 months old, and just got a Red tail Boa baby. My husband has an Amazon Tree boa, Saphira, who is 4 weeks old as well.

I was originally going to get a retic, sense I paid for it, but after finding out how long they get and being jerked around by the pet store, I decided to get my money back (hopefully will get it back on Wednesday) and I bought a red tail boa, 2 1/2 months old. She should get to be 9 feet long, which is more manageable for a newbie like me. ;) I’ll post some pictures tomorrow. Not sure what I’m going to name her yet.

I’m wondering. I know she needs a cage that’s not to big. I was planning on getting a big snake, so we have the 75 gal. set up. This little boa is maybe 2 feet long, haven’t measured her yet, and the 75 gal is about 4 feet long. I know it’s to big right now, so should I put in a separator, to make her cage smaller. I don’t want to stress her. Any ideas how to make a separator? I’m guessing pexy glass?

Have a great day.

Great Boa CL... I’m sure you’ll enjoy her a lot more than you would have a retic... or for that matter either of your other snakes. My RTB’s are far more social than my other snakes. They actually act like they enjoy being out of their enclosure more than the Balls. He/She is absolutely beautiful..can’t wait to see what you name her.

Susan, thank you for making me feel welcome here. :) I’m still having a hard time figuring out her name. I think once I hold her a bit, which I’m not till she gets use to her cage, maybe the name will come to me. I’m glad I got her and not a retic too. Or a burmise, my husband wanted a albino burmise, but it was a male, and to be honest, I’m not ready for that big of a snake, not yet anyways. Maybe in a few years, but for now, I just want to watch my babies grow. I swear Cleo (my BP) has gotten twice as thick as when I first got her 3 weeks ago. :) Have a great day.

Yep, but for some reason males and I don’t get along. LOL I know my new girl, and all my snakes will get bigger cause they are female, but they won’t get as big as a retic. ;)

Every male snake I’ve held, I knew was a male before they probed them, which really started to piss off the sales lady. I would hold one, tell her that I didn’t think it was the snake for me, didn’t like it’s personality, and it was a male, and she’d roll her eyes, and ask the boss, and he’d tell her, she’s right. (Thankfully the owner knew most of the snakes sexes, so he didn’t have to keep probing the poor dears)

Is it just me, or do male snakes tend to be a bit crabby compared to the females? Anyone else get along better with one sex then the opposite?

LOL my female RTB is a bytch. My male actually likes my Bath and Body Works lotion (sweet pea) and licks my arms and such... however he will not do it if I wear say... warm vanilla sugar. I love all of my snakes... but my male RTB is my fav... his name is Gandhi b/c of his peaceful nature.. and is a sweetheart. However, India is a different story.

I got another snake, a boy this time. Pastel Pall Python, one year old. Surprisingly, we get along okay. Maybe males aren’t so bad. The pet store gave me a really good deal on him for all the problems I’ve had with their store. He’s a real sweetie. Now I feel bad for saying male snakes are snots. lol Not sure what I’ll name him. But I named my RTB Isis. :)

Isis! I love it! You know I already had 2 RTB’s (India and Gandhi) and my BP’s name is Seis... I got a corn 10 days ago... Her name is Anaranjado.. Ari for short. The pastel is beautiful.
