Whats the best way of taming?

What are the best ways of taming? I had some people tell me to pet him while he is in his enclosure until he doesn’t mind being touched. and other people say just pick him up and hold him for about 20-30 mins a day. Every time i try to touch him he speeds off. This is my first snake so if you can give me some tips it would be greatly appreciated. thanks

i tamed all of mine by daily handling for 20-30 minutes 2 times a day and soon enough if you stick to it they will become as tame as snakes get

I hold each of mine 3 times a week for a half hour to hour. If I am just watching t.v I always have a snake. I have only been bit 3 times in the last year :) All my fault! So no hard fealings. Good luck. you will be fine.

As explained above, just take it out and hold it for a while. You’ll have to accept getting tagged a few times. What species is it?

its a dumeril boa. he never tried to bite me yet, he is just really jumpy when i try to pick him up. Once my hand touches his body he speeds off. Im just wonder is it common for snakes to be jumpy like that or will they break out of it.

most small boas and pythons are jumpy my red tail was my ball was but they tame relatively quickly. Dont worry your doing just fine and ure snake is acting the natural way for a small boa. Older snakes take more time to tame but its not too hard
