I got this info from the book Barrons Boas. A Complete Pet Owners Manual. pg 79. I do not own one so I had to look it up for you. The Rubber Boa is patternless and quite shiny being a nearly uniform shade of beige..to dark brown to olive colored. They spend most of their time burrowing in humid, loose soil or rotting logs. They eat small rodents and amphibians..however an occassional bird is taken. Adults rarely exceed 2 feet. The tail is blunt and round mimicking the head. Rubber boas are seldom kept by hobbyists due to their secretive nature and dull coloring. They prefer temps substantially cooler than other boas. Daytime highs...70’s and night time lows...60’s. Wood shavings or mulch make acceptable substrates. They are spring time breeders and usually require very cool breeding temps with little 2 no lighting at all. They have small litters of three to eight and are typically difficult feeders as neonates. Sucessful breeding may be impossible on an annual basis therefore lowering the population making them difficult to acquire. I hope this helped you out. Susan |
