Anyone have a baby Dumerils? I am buying a baby in Aug. of this year if the female has any. I wanted to know what size tank woud be good for a hatchling. I am reading on the web but it realy dosn’t say much about them? Any info for the set up and temps? I want to be ready a month in advance...at least.

Anyone have a baby Dumerils? Well i have a baby dum and i got mine in a 33 long. some people might say its to big but its perfect. just make sure u have a least two hides. i have 2 hides and 2 plants that he likes to hide under so you can say 4 hides. day times should be between 85-90 on hot side and 78-80 on cold side and night temps should be 80-83 hot side and 75-77 on cold side. humidity should stay aroud 50-70%. heres a pic of my enclosure also here’s a website that has a real good Care Sheet

Anyone have a baby Dumerils? Thanks. Most of the sites I found are pretty dull. Are males smaller than females?

Anyone have a baby Dumerils? Yes females get larger. Personally i dont like to use half logs as hides. I have 2 from when i got my first snake but i think a tight fit hide is much better like a large container with a hole in it or a flower pot thats broken on the side. Its more secure for the snake and keeps it darker in there for them. You can even flip over a meat container you get when you buy beef and stuff and cut a hole on the side and that works pretty well. Thats just my ideas. Some might disagree.

Anyone have a baby Dumerils? I hand make my snake hides out of cardboard boxes. I can measure and make them size to fit so my snakes feel safe. I used the logs and my balls hate them. I put a tree in the tanks even if they don’t climb, just for looks and to help shed if needed. I have lots of smaller breeds and wanted one large but not huge snake. I had a rescue burm and she was a hand full. I decided on a breed that is smaller and safer for the family.
