 Funny Story

So, heres a little prelude to what is going on. I have a niece who is 2 years old, she will be 3 December 2nd. The last time she was over with her parents, I was cleaning out Kain’s cage when she came in with her dad and then freaked out and ran out of the room. I then took Kain out for a little bit and I asked her if she wanted to see the snake. She screamed and ran to her mom saying no (remember shes 2!). Well, I started laughing and my sister asked what I did and I told her, I asked Jaeda (my niece) if she wanted to pet the snake. Well, I came out of the room as they were getting ready to leave and Jaeda ran to my sister and hid freaking out. She was saying no no no no and my sister kept reassuring her that he wasn’t going to get her and that was the end of that.

So today, Jaeda is over again. We were all hanging out outside since it was a nice evening and I decided to bring Kain out. She flipped out at first and tried crawl into my mom’s chest, literally. I let him just crawl around in my lap for a while and held on to him and just let her see he wasn’t going to hurt me so he wouldn’t hurt her. Now my mom, she hates snakes even though she used to catch garters as a kid. She actually touched him (finally after 2 years of having him) but cringed after wards. So, I stretched Kain out a bit and held out his tail so Jaeda could touch him. She wasn’t sure at first so she didn’t so I just let him crawl in my lap again. My mom kept reassuring her that hes a funny snake and my fiancee just kept telling her its a big worm. Jaeda kept saying that hes gonna get her and at one point, Kain came up to me, nose to nose and just flicked his tongue on my nose (which feels weird!) and Jaeda found it amusing. So I reached over again and tried to get her to touch him and this time she only poked him. She laughed and screamed "I TOUCHED THE SNAKE!!" And then from then until I put him back in his cage she kept saying she needs to touch the snake, she touched the snake, its a snake, etc. At one point I set Kain down in the grass and sat down on my knees next to him so he wouldn’t wonder off to far even though I knew he wouldn’t. Jaeda actually came over and randomly sat down on my right knee and watched him.

I think she may be a little snake girl in the future (or so I hope!). Her parents like snakes, my brother-in-law wants a Albino Ball Python and then my sister has worked at multiple pet stores. When I was young, we stopped by her work one day and she brought out a little baby boa for me to touch and this was back when I was like 4 or so. So, I’m hoping her fear goes away. Every time Jaeda would say she needed to touch the snake my mom would say "see what you did" I just shrugged and said "She’ll get used to it! Better to face your fears young!". So, I only hope when shes a little older that she’ll actually hold him. If she were to hold any snake right now, I would trust Akira more than anything since she has never bitten and is one of the sweetest snakes I’ve ever seen! I hope you enjoyed my little story! Hopefully pictures will be able to be taken next time!

Yea me to!
When my mom and I dropped her off back home the next day, my mom had to bring up that she also sprayed me directly with the hose and then I told her that she touched the snake. My sister turned to her and said "You touched Auntie Lynsey’s snake? I told you he wasn’t going to hurt you!" It was pretty funny!

 Funny Story

Lol that is a funny story! It sounds like my cousin. When she was 4 she was afraid of EVERYTHING. Literally. She was shy as ever, hated strangers, claustrophobic, arachnophobic, afraid of snakes, everything. So, she came to visit and I had my iguana out. He was only about 2 ft at the time and she wouldn’t come within 20 ft of me all day. Finally, when she was about to leave she ran up and poked Diamond(my iguana) on the end of his tail, ran back about 10 ft and giggled. It was hilarious. They stayed an extra hour and then she held him, saying she wanted an iguana. :D

haha thats pretty funny to!
Yea, hopefully everytime she comes over i’ll get her even more into snakes. Right now it probably will only be a touch (she did kinda squeeze kain at one point but not hard!) on his back or something, nothing big just yet. I’ll get her, hopefully she’ll want a snake when she’s older!

 Funny Story

My kids all love my babies. Mind you, my babies are still just little.

My 3 year old Reilly loves to handle Charlie (my wifes boa), I can’t wait to see how he reacts when they get bigger.

 Funny Story

I have three kids 6, 3, and 3 months plus I have all my cousins, nieces and nephews that live close by. They all love coming to visit me because they want to hold the snakes. One of my little cousins is scared to death of dogs but you put a sand boa in her hands and she’s in heaven. I love teaching kids about reptiles. They are so open and hungry for knowledge. We live in farm country and come across all kinds of snakes. In my collection I keep some native species. The kids love learning about the different kinds of animals they can come across in their yards and of course they all leave knowing that if they see a snake in the wild to leave it alone, the wild ones are not like Aunt Jennifer’s snakes.

The last time she was over which was a few weeks ago, she was sitting on my fiancee’s lap trying to talk to my snake through the glass. It was pretty funny. Every time she comes over now she asks to see him. I won’t let her hold him until she gets a little older but we’ll get there!

I have a 3 yr old niece that likes to pet the snakes and it’s so funny everytime she touches one she then has to wipe her hand on her shirt, like it got slimy or dirty by touching the snake.

My niece will be 3 in December. She doesn’t think he’s slimy or anything like that, he squeezes him sometimes though but I know it doesn’t hurt him since its not hard. Like I said, the last time she came over she was sitting on my fiancee’s lap trying to talk to him through the glass.
