Emerald Tree Boa owners I have been keeping emeralds exclusively for 10 years, both northerns and basins. The first suggestion I would make is learn all that you can about the captive care of the species. Second, well before getting the animal, get your set up ready and test run, making sure you can maintain proper temps and humidity. Us KISS as a guide, that way you will avoid introducing or creating pathogens that could be harmful. Stay away from WC imports, they are trouble! Find a reputable breeder and get a healthy baby that is well established, preferably before it has gone through ontogenesis! Watching the color change is one of the best parts of working with this species. Yes, you will pay more for a CBB emerald, but as they say, you get what you pay for.
