 Dumerils boa

we’ve had our Dumerils Boa for six weeks now an are a little worried that he hasn’t pooped, we’ve found hard white "stuff" in his tank an are assuming this is urine, and while we’ve read everything we can about this species we cant find anything definate on this subject, some say only when he shedds, though this doesnt sound right........ can someone please help us?????

Those white things are urates, aka hard pee. What is your humidity at? And your hot spot? What are you heating him with, a lamp or an UTH? If you are using a lamp, ditch it and get an under-tank heater with either a lamp dimmer or a thermostat. The reason why he’s not going is most likely because he is too dry. That is the main cause of constipation among other problems. Get a spray bottle of water and mist him down every other day or so.
Prey items should be the same size around, or 1 1/2 times the size of the widest part of your snake. Sometimes snakes that are eating small meals will often take longer to poop. Pick up your snake and feel his belly, run your hand down his body while pressing your thumb lightly into his belly. Do you feel hard lumps? If so, then he may be constipated. Try soaking your dum’s for about half an hour in some lukewarm water. He might go then. If he’s not constipated, try offering a bigger food item, that may make him expel soon. Good luck!
