 Male red-tail won’t eat

My girlfriend and I got a new 5ft male columbian red-tail boa just over a month ago and it won’t eat. We’ve tried feeding him live, frozen, freshly killed, brained, stomached, brained and stomached, fresh killed rolled in tuna (snakebitestv.com) and we’re out of ideas. Can someone please help? The only other option I can think of right now is forcefeeding, and I don’t know how to go about that.

Have you considered maybe the termperatures and humidity of his cage aren’t correct? Wrong temperatures and humidity can play a HUGE roll in a snake not eating.

Boas can go a very long time without eating....DO NOT force feed until you at least had a vet take a look at the boa!

What was the previous owner feeding him? and how often? Was he a good feeder for the previous owner?

There are many reasons that would cause a boa to go off-feed. Check environmental issues first....temps, humidity, hides, substrate....

He’s the right size, and I’m assuming the right age to breed. If that’s the case he may have gone off-feed because he’s in breeding mode. Males can go months without eating during breeding season. I’ve got males that are "on the hunt" for females already.

You may want to have a vet check him out to insure that he doesn’t have a serious problem (i.e. parasites, internal issues....)

find out what the previous owner was feeding it and feed it what ever he was eating. if that doesnt work then try double checking the tempurature, and humidity. if all eltse fails take it to the vet. if the animal was wild caught, which i doubt, but just in case, it probably wont eat for a while. but i would take it to the vet in another month or so if it doesnt eat, but they can go a long time with put eating. so dont worry yet.
