 Bull,pine or gopher ?

Well whats the best way to tell them apart ? Pictures and a explanation will work. I just wanted to know because I got a snake from my friend and I adopted one from a animal rescue. From what I was told they are gophers. They have the same pattern from head to tail. It just gets darker towards the tail. and they both have a black strip on their nose thats in between their eyes. I will try to post pictures after I get home from work.

Thanks http://www.repticzone.com/images/faces/s3.gif

The darkening toward the tail is common, that’s a lot more subtle than the usual bullsnake thing. They’re gophers, but I have no idea what subspecies.

Thanks a lot for the information, I would have posted more pictures but the web site would not allow me to because the files are too big for the web site.

Nope I didn’t catch them. I live in PA and I think gopher’s live more southwest. I got one from a animal rescue agency and the other was given to me by my friend who got his from a reptile expo. I do go out hunting but i only do catch and release. Once I get a video camera I will be recording with my friend. It’s not going to be anything professional. Just some good times looking for snakes. Oh and those pics I have are of two different snakes.

I think those guys look more like gophers, notice the bands behind and accross the eyes...
