 I Got a Bull

Hey this is my first time on this forum, I’m usually on the Ball Python, Python, Boa Constrictor, Water Snakes, or That Snakes in General one. Anyway, I traded my Saharan Sand Boa for this little guy. I think its a guy. I was told he may be a hybrid between a Bull and Gopher but I really don’t know the difference. His name is Butters and he’s supposed to be nasty as all hell but he’s been great w/ me so far. Also, I think he’s about a year old right now, How big do you guys reckon he’ll get? Never had a Bull or Gopher before.

Wish me luck w/ him. If there’s any special care I should know about feel free to tell me, but I do keep a crap load of pythons, Boas, Water Snakes and a kingsnake and rat so snakes aren’t knew to me.

Tell me what you guys think.

If you treat him like a kingsnake you should do fine. About size.. the truth? Five feet is probably most likely. Everybody talks about them averaging six or seven, and they certainly can get that big, but most really don’t. if he’s really, honestly aggressive, I’ll be surprised. They can be pretty loud if they’re annoyed, but most of them aren’t biters. If a coyote or something just thinks that they’re going to bite it, it will retreat, but if they actually clamp onto it it’s going to have to tear them in half in order to win the fight. Anyway, Pits are pretty intelligent snakes, and if they get handled a lot they quickly learn that you’re harmless.

Thanks. I was told he was satan spawn but I’ve held him three times in the four days that I’ve had him (tisk tisk on me) and he hasn’t been worked with a lot, I can tell that, but I hardly see him as being mean. He just seems nervous. I’ll be sure to hold him plenty, though. I’ve never even heard him hiss and think there were ever a reason for the glove.

Beautiful snake! Google "Gopher Snake Care" and you will find everything you need. You are right, the more you work with him, the easier he will be. I hope to get a Gopher in the next few months. Your Bull is fantastic.
