 Enclosure issues...

ok, so heres the situation, I have three baby gopher snakes, all about 12 inches long, and I was wondering if all three can live in a case thats about 4’W x 5’L x 3’H without eating each other.
It’s not for my personal use its for a display.

Do gophersnakes eat each other???

If they are fed seperately, cannibalism is extremely unlikely. I mean, it might happen, but it would be very abnormal. They have to be fed seperately though, or accidents will happen.
The real concern isn’t cannibalism, it’s cleanliness. That’s a huge cage to keep track of all the turds of three different large burrowing snakes in. Bacteria will thrive in that setup.
However, if you can divide it up, you’ll have three perfectly good cages.

ok, so just feed them seperately, no prob, the poop wont be an issue we’ll have someone cleaning and observing every day, and feeding, and doing full substrate changes weekly.

Is it two females and one male? Sometimes they go into breeding mode even without brumation and two males could be a bit much for one female whose stuck with them 24/7. If the ratio is right, and they’re fed seperately, and nobody’s phoning it it on hygiene, and they’re fed f/t or checked for internal parasites at least once a year because worms can spread like wildfire in a group situation, then... I’m still not a big fan of communal housing, just because there are so many "ifs" that can fall through for various reasons, but if you’re gonna do it then at least this is one of the better genera for the situation.

he has everything he needs, water; food; proper lighting; hides; rocks; branches; and all that good stuff.

Damn! He’s got it made. I know there are people who insist that large cages are a terrible idea and stress them out horribly, but I’m willing to wager that he didn’t get the memo. They’re very curious and as long as he has things to do and wander around in between he ought to love the place.
