Love ’em. I’ve had a couple pines, and they were the two tamest snakes I’ve had in my entire life. I don’t mean "sit there like a zombie" tame like a ball python, either; I’m talking about things like coming straight out of the hide box to climb on you the second the cage is open. I’d like to say it was all my brilliant taming abilities, but they were already a few months old when I got them and already pretty much unscareable. I mean, I’m sure if you swung one around by the tail a few times it would start hissing, but my impression has been that they are about the most entertainingly curious snake you can get.

I got lucky, of course; I’ve heard of many others that were less puppylike, but CB Pits are still usually pretty tame after the hatchling jitters wear off, and even wildcaught adults aren’t really biters.

Curious + non-biter + good eater + active when the light is on = good snake.
