Hi everyone, I’m new and have a question

Hello, I have a question. I just bought a gopher snake about 2 weeks ago and I took him to the vet the next day and he is in great condition. He has recently been going to the cooler side of his tank and staying there for a while and by the time I take him out, he is really cold. Is this normal for him to do this? I know they like to cool off, but is it O.K. for him to stay there until he gets that cold? Any responses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well Ryan! I thought there would of been a answer on her for you by now, but I will do my best to give you some suggestions. Make sure that the heat lamp isnt too close to the ground in the aquarium.... could be giving off too much heat, or change the wattage of the bulb to make it cooler. Or try a darker light, maybe he is just shying away into the dark and try and get a heat pad if he just hates the light on the whole. He might warm up to the light

Hi everyone, I’m new and have a question

Thanks for the help. I do have a heat pad under the tank then have the heat lamp above the tank because that was what the vet recommended. I think I will try to have the lamp a little higher above the tank and see how he likes that. That might actually be what is bothering him because now that you mentioned it, I did get a high wattage bulb. Thanks again.
