Here is the cheapest copy I could find of a book that you seriously need. It explains cause and effect and why what works in the wild with a lot of space does not work in captivity. In other words, it answers those "But if it doesn’t kill them in the wild, why can’t I do it?" questions. As far as special needs, that cage size is good for a bull, and they like it dry. A large water bowl is fine, no need to mist unless you have an unusual bad shed or something. Basically, just treat them like large kingsnakes. Most of them like to burrow, but if you have one that’s happy with regular hides then paper is fine. They respond well to areas of partial cover, and they’re diurnal, so even if they’re hiding they will notice the light cycle. You don’t need UV, just good daytime lighting and an undertank heater. Coachwhips I’ve never had. But I do know that coachwhips eat each other, so they probably aren’t looking to be social with other snakes. |
