 Question on keeping snakes togeather

The biggest problem isn’t them eating each other like with kingsnakes. It’s difficulty in troubleshooting. A lot of internal problems manifest themselves in the waste discharge... or in the lack thereof. When you can’t really tell which snake you’re cleaning up after, you’re just making it harder to do your job properly.
Incidentally, I used to house two pines together. They semed like they actually liked each other. I mean, honestly, you could even take them both out and put them in different parts of the room and they’d go right over and sniff each other. But there was some kind of territoriality going on. They both ate (seperately!) but the male was a bit shyer about it. Usually he had to be fed in the cage, where he could strike from hiding, whereas the female would eat anywhere, any time, no hesitation. Also, when they both outgrew hoppers/weaners, the female accepted large mice immediately. The male had to be given multiple litle ones for about six months longer. But after six years together, the female died of skin cancer, and once he had the place to himslef the male became much, much bolder. He was even willing to consistantly eat outside the cage, and with less caution than he had formerly shown even inside it. So my hypothesis is that, since one snake is going to be a little less dominant than the other, that one at least would be happier on its own.

 Question on keeping snakes togeather

Ok I have been argued with about this before but I must put in my 2 cents. I still up to this day have both my bull and garter in the same tank and well you can see the bigger snake wins in dominancy, but at the same time they dont eat the same thing to often. They both still share the heat pad, have their seperate hideouts and the garter bows down to the bull when he sees him coming but the garter will eat nevertheless, even while sharing the heatpad. The only prob is that when the garter moves off the heat pad the bull will do this weird jerking movement that basically means to the garter to get off or stop moving. The both get along fine and they have 2 seperate looking stools so I can tell whats going on with then. This is not encouragable with other snakes. Report of Donnie and Dante from Matt
