I think it is a bull but I’m unsure. Anyone?

I almost stepped on this little guy today so decided to take him/her home. He is about 12", skinny as pencil, zero hissing, and a little on the defensive side(he calmed down after I caught him). My family insists that it is a bull snake but I have no idea and I’m curious.

Ya, I don’t think its a Bull either ,but better "Full Body" picks would be nice so i can see its tail patterning to.

His temperament is excellent. He did well when I handled him.

I’d like to know where you are located to narrow it down..but it almost looks like ~Arizona elegans~ "Glossy Snake"

It is a glossy snake for sure.
they look similar to the banded or blotched water snakes, but don’t get them mixed up with your glossy snake (the banded water snake is out of your range anyways).
it is NOT a fox snake. they look very different.

Awesome, thanks a lot. Now I’m debating on keeping it or giving it a good meal and letting it go.

I would have agreed with amphibiandude. It looks a lot like a Rat Snake. But when you said it was very easy to handle, I had my doubts. Rat Snakes tend to be very aggressive and bite with out hesitation.

I’m Gonna Go With The Great Plains Rat Snake . . .

The pattern on the head sways me, with the "bar" going through the eye, plus these shots show that glossy snakes have apparently fewer blotches
