 Purchasing a Bull Snake

I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction? I’m looking to purchase a bull snake as they are a more aggressive and are beautiful snakes. However, I have not been able to come across a breeder for a quality healthy bull snake. If someone could help me out it would be much appreciated.

 Might Be a Herp Shop in a Large City . . .

I see from your profile you you may be close to Milwaukee or possibly Chicago; that’s one possibility . . .

And even if they don’t have bulls, they often offer publicity for shows; my experience has been those frequently offer the best deals. I got my Texas bull as a yearling two years ago for $30 and picked up a hatchling Great Basin gopher last year for the same price (both females, no less).

Others may know of some mail order/on-line sites where you get them shipped FedEx... You pay the shipping on that one of course, and I have nothing against the practice except I’m perennially financially challenged and it does raise the price . . .

Good luck . . .

Some are really expensive, others are more economical, all are quality.

Thanks for the advice. It is much appreciated. I was able to find a Bull snake later this afternoon for $120 shipped. I think this is a relatively reasonable for a snake who is just under a year old. The breeder informed me that the snake has been handled regularly and is the least aggressive in the group.

My only concern now is shipping. As we are now in the summer months, how picky should I be when considering a shipping date? My preference is to ship FedEx to FedEx - having the snake held for pickup. This eliminates the travel time, and keeps the animals stored in a temp controlled room. Has anyone had experience with FedEx and is this the right option?

I’ve had good luck with Fedex. Having the snake held for pick up is a good idea. Get a weather forecast for your area and the route the snake is going to shipped, and aim for moderate weather.
