 Zola and Zorro; Striped Pacifics

Just arrived today from Envy Reptiles (Jason Nelson). The photo is of the female Zola. The male Zorro looks the same. These are 09 babies hatched in August. This completes my gopher snake collection.

The Fedex guy went to my neighbor’s house instead of mine, since we live on a rural dirt road with not much in the way of street signs. So the neighbor accepted the package thinking it was something her husband had ordered, then saw my name on the box. When I went over to her house to get the box I opened it and showed her the snakes. She’s a country girl, and was most impressed with the babies. It would have been funny if she had opened the box and then had to wonder why in the world is her husband buying snakes! LOL!

I once had a big two-handed Scottish Lochaber axe get delivered to the wrong house. Right state, but besides that wrong first name, last name, street name, street number, city, county, zipcode, you name it! The dealer had to send me a whole ’nother one, while trying to get the first one back from god only knew who! Hopefully it wasn’t some guy whose rice crispies had been saying "snap, crackle, kill them ALL!"
So the snakes got to have a little roadside adventure. Worse things could have happened. Glad they made the voyage okay. Two more days and they’ll be guilt-tripping you about trying to let them settle before feeding. My money is on the snakes. They have a tendeny to win that particular argument.

Here she is this morning, out watching the activity again. Her brother is still under his hide. Every once and awhile I get a snake that has more personality than usual; Zola may be one of those.

They look huge for just being born in August. My little guy that we found in the back yard is so tiny and still has not eaten in 5 weeks! He just seems so little compared to those two!

CBs are often monsters compared to their wild equivalents. It’s not just the regular meals; it’s also the better temperature controls. Some localities lay bigger eggs than others, too, though, so hatchling sizes vary dramatically.
