Shyboy Did you build the beardie cages yourself or did you buy them somewhere? I am looking around at ideas to buil a new beardie and iggie cage. Love the cages and was just wondering.

Thanks
Janettech

I built all my enclosures from scratch. The Bearded Dragon Enclosure is about 5 years old and my first. I didn’t have a plan when I built it. I had the plans in my head and made adjustment as I went along. It’s actually three parts. The base, the bottom enclosure and the top. They’re all stacked. I built it that way in case we had to move we would carry each individually.

Here’s a picture of how I used to have mine setup. Waiting for my daughter to get a little bigger and move into a bigger space so that I can create a beautiful enclosure once again. Hope this gives you a good idea.

Jazmjo. Hey, I know it took me a while to reply to your question on how I made my rock wall. I don’t have a step by step but it is very easy to do. It’s pretty much what you’ve been seeing others on the forum do on theirs.

For example:

Materials:
1)pink/blue insulation board from home depot or lowes
2)plaster or grout
3)sealer
4)acrylic paint (if you’re using plaster)
5)Glue gun or Liquid Nails, I used them both
6) Knife - preferably a very sharp knife. Ie - carpet/utility
7) Great Stuff (foam)

Steps:
1) Using insulation board, cut out a piece to use as your wall
2) Glue/liquid nail - insulation wall onto your cage background
3) With remaining board, cut out into realistic rock shapes
4) Glue rocks onto flat insulation wall, wherever desired
5) Use great stuff foam to fill or help adhere gaps/holes
6) Carve out wall (flat foam board) to look like crevices in the rocks. Also carve out the Great Stuff foam if already applied so that it can blend into the other rocks.
6) Apply plaster your wall, it dries very quickly so have a plan on where you’ll want to start.
7) You’ll probably have to do a couple layers of this
8) Let it dry
9) Paint it as you wish. My first time I used spray paint but it started pealing, so stick to acrylic paints, they dry fast and are safe for your lizard.

Note: I used plaster on mine, but I recommend grout because grout looks more realistic & easier to handle. The plaster that I used dried instantly & it wasn’t as easy to maintain.

I also plastered the entire enclosure in mine, including ground. All of my walls were insulated & plaster with the acrylic paint worked for me because my lizard (water dragon) required higher humidity levels. have a good one and let me know if you have anymore questions.

i have a quiestion because i built an alligator enclosure but i am having a problem with coming up a way to make land i used an old coffee table that had a square cut out of the middle so i took plastic from a waterbed bladder and used that as a liner so now i have a very big pond but i have to be careful on making land so i dont poke any holes in the liner and have 300 gallons of water in my bedroom floor soo if anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated

Have you tried using the landscaping pond liner. Its black and very thick. Alot of people use it for monitors. I’m sure you could buy it at a plant nursery.
