Looks very nice. Did you make the base, or is that part of an old table or something?

If you can still smell it, then it’s not safe to put him in yet. Opening the doors will help make it go faster (:

the base i made its just a simple 2X4 and the posts are off an old table that i just ripped off. They were like $10 a piece at Lowes so i just sanded down old ones and restained them. Thanks alot thats what i was thinking if i can smell it i know he can and the doors have been open i just closed them for the picture made it look a little better.

sounds good i wasn’t sure about the real rock either so i just threw it in there for the time being. I also have a huge piece of timber that i am going to chlorine and cut to size here in a couple days. I am going out of town for the weekend and my boy is gonna look after him so i’m just gonna leave him where he is then sunday night put him in his new home....

Yeah, ’cause all rocks in nature look exactly like their neighbors.

its not the look idiot its the type of atmosphere the rock is in it like seeing rocks that belong in Yellow stone in the dessert. Think before you type.

Two Questions:

What type of bulbs and wattage are you using?

With the grout, what did you use to seal it?

Nice looking cage!

I am using two bulbs. The first is a Zoo Med MVB 100W and the second is a common household 150W that i am switching out for a 200W before i put him in. Yes it is tile grout and styrofoam with a couple real rocks. Finally i used acrylic tile grout sealer because that is wah ti read 99% of people used because it is not toxic.

Ithink sumtimes different types of grout can be a bit crumbly so the sealant can smooth it off a bit and it mite even make the wall last a bit longer, im not an expert thats just from my experiance, it can give it a good shine and smooth feel if thats wat your goin for

now ive never used a toxic grout but if someone were to use a toxic grout could a non toxic sealant cover the toxic grout to make it non toxic?

mayb thatsa another reason for a sealant??? i duno like i said im not an expert so dont hate this is what the forums for

i can honestly say i dont have a clue either. The guy at lowes told me you need to seal the grout so i did. He also said some sealents have toxic chemicals so to go with an acrylic. There were 3 different times, natural, semi-golls, and high gloss. I got the semi gloss because they were out of the big jug of natural and i figured 7 coats i would need the big container. I just looked at my bag and it said nothing on it about containing anything toxic in the grout. Also I asked a friend that knows a decent big and he said its just a finishing product like u said and does make it last longer and give that smooth finish. Sorry i dunno more i was just following suite when i did it.

Also another note i just thought about. The grout seems to be drying out in the bowl and is crumbling. The sealer probably gives it the moisture and strengthens needed to finish the job. I can imagine if i didn’t add the sealer it would crumple and might cause impactation if he licks in in certain places.
