You could take a chance shipping it if you really need to, but I’d go the craigslist way instead.

If you must ship it, tape the glass with X’s - that way if it does break, it might not be so messy. Then I’d say cover the glass inside and out with cardboard, fill the inside with shipping peanuts or something, and get a box big enough so that you have at least 3" of space around all sides, bottom and top of the tank, and fill with peanuts.
