Contact as a backround in an all glass aquarium

well, after today destroying my fragile powdery futile attempt at a plaster rockwall, i still search for a backround. i had the idea of using contact, which is essentially adhesive plastic on the aquarium backing. Ive heard it reccomended in cage building as an alternative to painting, reducing the amount of fumes. at this point, I’m just looking for something decent for this 75 gallon. my question is, is it known to give off fumes when heated? and does it easily come off the glass if i need to remove it? i know that its water proof. i am aware of formica, but ive been told its pricey.

Why not just take a picture and get it printed to size? I had a nice photograph of white sands, new mexico (right down the street from me) on full moon night. I just cropped it to fit my 18" by 48" tank and cut the picture up into 8x10’s and had walmart print them, then I taped them together and put them up on the outside of the tank. I’m still looking for somewhere that can print 18" x 48" straight for cheap but until then it looks pretty damn nice.
