I used west systems epoxy resin on my anole setup and it works awesome. I have an automatic misting system in it and I have had no problems at all with any kind of leakage. West systems epoxy is mainly used for marine boat applications, that’s where you will probably find some if not on the Internet. There is quite a few different epoxies in their line. The one I’ve used a few times is the 105 epoxy resin with 205 hardener. Its not cheap but it works awesome. Ive actually used it in one of my fish tank backgrounds and had no problems with any PH levels or anything, I also talked to one of the reps for the company and they said once the product is fully cured and dry its basically inert, so its the safest stuff I’ve found to use.

For the dry environment you’re making, water based poly is fine. For more durability, oil based is better. Best is shellac because it’s natural and doesn’t outgas anything, dries extremely fast. Shellac should only be used in desert type applications though, as it spots when water gets on it. (Humidity is fine.)
