Nice job , Looking forward to seeing the critters.... good job on the rocks / walls..simple and functional.

Nice, what appears to be an oak finish on the plywood.

very nice, for the texture in the foam walls did you use a blowtorch/lighter to melt it or something? what did you use to seal the foam?

yup oak plywood. used a smalll torch to get the texture then grout and i used poly to clear coat it for easy cleaning since the chubawala likes to snalt all over and the wife said she wanted to be able to clean it

hello im part of the snake forums but i saw your cage set up and i was wondering if you think it would be ok for a snake, or if you think it would be to hot for a snake?

this thread is dated May ...and is quite old

but as an avid builder I would say yes ...but it depends on what snake and the wattage of the bulb you use... and or UTH if any.

So what type of snake....??

For a snake youd want to definately put those electricals behind some sort of cage or screening so that it is impossible for them to get to the lamps and burn themselves. But yeah, I was lookin at that and thinkin...thats what Id basicly like for my boas with two swinging doors that latch good and tight on the front!

My builder got too buisy. I have a possibility of a craigs list deal in the works, but if not...CP hows your schedule lookin?

Think one could build a duplex like that (basicly 5’X2’X 18" high?) for under 500 bucks- including heat?

Yes Mother ...way under 500.00 !!

More like 200.00 - 300.00 tops

We built a four plex for about 400.00 and that was for Bearded dragons which require UVB ...of course I got the best ... but if for a snake , then no UVB would be needed. UTH mats can be had for less at Reptile Basics.com...or heat tape systems

KSL (much like Criags List) here has a guy sellig a nice 4 plex for 250.00...I am sooo tempted

My schedule ....full time work I start on this Friday , changing the lights & fixtures on Home Depots / Office Max’s / Costco’s ...whatever the contract calls for ...

So the old joke comes to mind how many guys does it take to change a light bulb???

LOL

Geez , gotta make a living ya know

I found a cage on CL without doors that looks about the right size. Bleaching, sanding and refinishing, and adding doors I can do! I do have a drill and can mount a hinge No problemo. I even have the Marine Spar Varnish.
I dont have a car and the person who has it may deliver it for extra cash. We will see. They were selling for $40.00 and I offered that to drive it the 35 miles to me across the bridge.
