 T.V. Stand Conversion

Nothing too special, but I like the way it is turning out:

Getting a steady temp check with a 60 watt bulb. May need to go to either 75 watt or down to 40 watt. We will see what happens in the next hour.

Get a light dimmer from home depot or lowes to regulate the temp. the light puts out. I think it costs a total of maybe 20 bucks? YouTube has videos on how to set up dimmer lights for reptile cages!

Cool cage by the way!

Or you could just buy a reptile thermostat. It keeps temps right. When it gets too hot the light will shut off. Too cool the light will turn on....

Just throwing ideas in the air. I’m bored lol

I actually have a theromostat I used for my Flexwatt. I will use it with the lamp. Thanks!

Still need to spruce up the furniture, but I am waiting for my daughter’s help to finalize that part.

Making sure the temps are correct LOL!

You know...if you put three of those rocks with just a couple inches betwen them, you could put the bigger flattest rock on top, and have a neat hide/basking spot.

Enclosure looks great!

That’s awesome! I need to look around the house for some furniture I can renovate now!! Any under tank heating or just the lamp? Is a UTH really necessary? I read they were, but I guess if your lamp heats the enclosure to the proper temps, a UTH is just overkill...

Planning on building an enclosure and getting a Corn. Researching to make sure it’s perfect :) I’ve had my African Fat Tailed gecko for almost 5 years now, so I guess a snake enclosure would be similar. She’s in a 20 gl aquarium, but I definitely want more room for a snake which could grow to 5’...

Thats awesome, you seem to know how to make awesome things, so, I want to build a rack, couldnt you buy a wooden bookshelf with finished wood from like walmart or target and just leave the back off and put on your own pegboard or something and maybe cut out grooves on the shelfs for the heat tape before you assemble it and do it like that, or would the wood get too hot and catch fire? and what about plastic racks, would the heat tape melt it?

Just a heat lamp.

Yes, you can build racks out of store bought bookshelves - people do it all the time. The limiting factor is the depth of the shelves. Most people buy these bookshelves for hatchling racks. I doubt you will find a bookshelf that will be suitable for adult Corns, Kings, or Balls.

Racks are a piece of cake to make if you have a table saw, circular saw, or some other means of cutting plywood. If you don’t, I can understand the allure of store bought, pre-cut wood.

Best of luck in your building. I always enjoy learning from my mistakes when I build something, and the next build is usually better because of it!
