 Need help with cage ideas.

Here is a picture of Anouk’s (male Ball Python, 2 1/2 yrs old, 1042 gm, 43 inches) current enclosure (40 gal breeder tank). I have tried to put things to climb to climb on in it such as drift wood and cage length round horizontal wood rods. As a baby he would sometimes climb in his 10 gal tank, but not since he has gotten older. He climbs on things when I have him out of his cage, though! One time I tried to make him a tunnel to crawl through, but he didn’t seem impressed.

I want to make sure he has the most mentally stimulating environment possible. He is out of his cage for several hours each day, but I would like him to enjoy his enclosure as well.

I saw where someone had made climbing/tunneling things for their snake (can’t remember what type of snake) out of ferret tunnel pieces.

Any ideas on how I can make his tank more comfortable and interesting? (I don’t have a very big budget though!)

I also have seen people make indoor "trees" for their snake to hang out on when out of their enclosure. Does anyone know if a BP would like something like that?
