How to heat outdoor water in the winter? 
I kept mine in a greenhouse divided into 2 sections, 1 for each. I had trouble keeping the ground warm enough to keep them healthy, though. I did it but it became a little costly. I used a small pool heater (suited to a 750 gal. pool). You could use smaller, but I had a lot of water. I also used multiple fishtank heaters in front of the powerheads to help keep cost of running the heater down. For the ground I used larger fiberglass substrate heaters. Without the greenhouse I wouldn’t recommend it, but some other people may have better insight on this issue. I’d give you a picture but my greenhouse has since been demolished :( In the winter it was always snow on the outside and great on the inside.
